Inarguably, oil palm provides the highest yield of oil per hectare per year compared to other oil-bearing crops. However, TDM understands that replacing natural forests with oil palms would have potential negative impacts on biodiversity, climate, hydrology, soil erosion, the physical and chemical properties of soil and specific management aspects. Hence, High Conversation Value (HCV) areas are left untouched to maintain the biodiversity and Rare, Threatened & Endangered (RTE) species in the area.
